The objective of the Farm is to provide a large range of diversified products grown in full respect of the environment. Uraiwan’s Organic Farm works according to sustainable development criteria. ‘Organic’ simply refers to the way agriculture products are grown and processed, and are likely to avoid any synthetic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers, or bioengineered genes (GMOs) in all of the process; everything must be from natural products. Let’s look back before the 20’s; it must be surprising to know that back then all of the farming was organic farming. Organic farming is a traditional agricultural system which has been practiced for centuries although techniques have evolved until the emergence of chemicals in the early 20th century, organic farming was the only way to grow fruits and vegetables. Organic farming uses fertilizers of organic origin, such as compost, green manure,manure and puts a lot of emphasis on soil management, optimizing living organisms. It protects and respects the environment and promotes sustainability. The use of synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, and growth hormones are banned in an organic farm and pesticides of natural origin are used instead to control undesired species. Uraiwan’s Organic Farm view organic production as a means to work with the environment and maintain the balance of their ecosystem, agriculture plays important role in Thailand but only a few farmers tend to care for our environment. As producer and consumer, together we can create the wave to make a difference for our planet.

Organic certification

Most people associate organic food with extra money without knowing the benefits of organic food and the impact to human’s physical and mental health as well as the environment. Natural and Organic are not interchangeable terms; many people might be confused when it comes to these terms “pure natural” and “certified organic”. In general, organic refers to the methods and materials used to produce or grow the crops but natural refers as the product has no artificial flavor, artificial color or preservatives. According to Soil Association, generally, organic foods offer more beneficial nutrients, such as antioxidants, than their conventionally grown counterparts and people with allergies to foods, chemicals, or preservatives may find their symptoms lessen or go away when they eat only organic foods. In the face of climate change, diet related ill-health and widespread decline in wildlife, the need to change our food systems has never been greater – a transition towards ‘agroecological’ farming systems, like organic, can make a world of difference. The key principles for Uraiwan’s Organic Farm are toward consumer’s health, environment, and fairness.

Uraiwan’s Organic Farm offers more than 50 fine selections of vegetables, fruits and aromatic herb; all vegetables and aromatic herbs are certified by ACT/IFOAM and ACT-EU:TH-BIO-121.
