Kombucha recipe
- Prepare 1.2 liters of hot water. Add 15 grams of loose leaf tea which is organic and brew for 2-3 minutes. Strain the mixture into a jar and discard the brewed tea leaves. I usually put my tea leaves into my plant pots since they are organic.
- Add 100 grams of granulated brown sugar to the brewed tea and stir until dissolved. Wait until the tea cools down to room temperature. You can add some ice to the tea to speed the process.
- When the tea cools down to room temperature, add the scoby to initiate the fermentation process.
- Close the jar with a cheesecloth or a tea towel. Keep it at room temperature, away from sunlight and heat.
- The fermentation process will take a minimum 10 days, open the jar every two days to check the kombucha.

I use home grown aloe vera with my kombucha. My home grown is free from harmful chemicals and can be sprayed on the face many times in a day. I was curious to see how this combination would work, I tried making it a few days ago and it feels really refreshing when it is sprayed on the face. Both the ingredients are 100% vegan so this is a cruelty-free vegan kombucha mist.
I paired my new homemade kombucha with aloe vera because aloe vera is extremely easy to grow at home and the leaves contain a plethora of antioxidants including beta carotene, vitamin C and E that can help improve the skin’s natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated.
Aloe can also be used to heal chronic skin problems, such as psoriasis, acne and eczema. I also felt that aloe vera and kombucha is a perfect combination for vegan kombucha mist because of its ability to heal, reduce skin inflammation, and give the skin a youthful appearance.
